Where is the Love?

•July 19, 2008 • 4 Comments

I seriously haven’t touched my knitting in about a week. None of it. I have been a bit busier this week than normal, but really. I feel so uninspired. I want to knit, I just… don’t. What is wrong with me?? I feel like a need a new and exciting project, I just don’t know what that is. This sucks. Someone inspire me! What do I want to knit? Something fast and fun and captures my attention. Help me, help me!

Summery Knitting

•July 12, 2008 • 5 Comments

Listening To: Shameless by The Let Up (I got to hang out with the guys from The Let Up a little while ago, and I really dig them. They did a cover of Billy Jean that was kick-butt.)

Anyway, It’s already July! Holy Guacamoly. It makes me kind of sad, Summer is almost over, and I have to go back to school in a month :(

I’ve been knitting washcloths lately, they are awesome summer knitting. They are small and quick, and it’s fun to play around with different stitch patterns.

But sadly, I have run out of Dishcloth Cotton. So, I started something new:
Entrelac

I started Danica with some yarn I bought on my 4th of july trip, but I’m sure If I’m gonna keep with it. I dunno if I love the color combo as much as when I bought it. Plus, Entrelac is a pain in my butt to knit, so I dunno. Anyone have any ideas on what else I can make with 2 different color balls of Paton’s Classic Merino?

I had an awesome time over my 4th of July weekend, did you?

I knit a bit:

And just generally hung out and had fun with my family. Layla liked it:

I hope you all had a nice one. My camera ran out of batteries (and I forgot my charger, doh!) before the fireworks, so no pictures of them, oops!

I hope all of you have a great and fun 4th of July, and if you aren’t American, I hope you have a pleasant and fun weekend. I’m leaving tomorrow for our annual Family Reunion/ Vacation in Independence. I’m so excited.

Well, there is a large load of Laundry on the couch waiting to get packed, so I better go do that. I’ll have a post when I get home about all the fun that was had and all the knitting that got done.

Bye!

FO: Forest Canopy Shawl

It’s done, it’s little, it’s purple, I love it.

Yarn: Koigu Painter’s Palette Premium Merino, 1.5 skeins, colorwway p439
Needles: US Size 6
Pattern: Forest Canopy Shawl

I love this pattern. It was way too easy peasy. It’s easily memorized, and fun to knit, too! I really loved knitting this shawl, and I never really got to that point where I just wanted it to be done. I enjoyed every minute of it. The pattern is well written, it’s made to be an intro to lace kind of project, but for someone with more lace experience, it would be a piece of cake. I only used 1 and a half skeins, and I knit the pattern exactly how it was written. I could have made it bigger, but I didn’t. It’s a small shawl, so I’ll probably wear it more like a Scarf than around my shoulders like a shawl (If I wear it at all). I do love it, mostly because of the color. Purple is my favorite.

All in all, this one is a winner. Sweet.

On doing something I don’t normally do

forest canopy

I haven’t blogged in forever, I’ve just gotten bored with it. It’s starting to feel more like a chore than something fun, I’m even possibly considering quitting all together, but for now, I’ll keep going.  I mean, it’s still fun to share what I’m knitting with all of you, and I love my commenters, but sometimes I just don’t feel up to it.

Anyway, I’m posting today, so that’s something I don’t normally do! I’m also trying to do new things, branch out from my norm, because I’ve been getting bored with myself. I’m also trying to work on myself to become a better person. More outgoing, more organized, nicer, and just happier, and It’s working, because I feel better than I have been feeling the past few months, yay for me!

That up there? That’s a shawl, and If you know me, I’m not a shawl kind of person, but like I said, I’m branching out!

I really do knit still…

I know I know, it’s been forever since I posted! Sorry about that guys!

Anyway, I’ve been distracted lately. I finished up another semester, so I’m officially on Summer Vacation! Now I just need to find a job for this summer…

I’ve also been busy with a Series of books I discovered that I was reading non-stop these past few days, that sucked up all my knitting time too. But, I have a Finished Project to show you anyway!

may ugly socks

These would be my May socks, for the Pair-A-Month Challenge.

Yarn: Marisol Hacho, 2 skeins in “Coral Reef”
Needles: 2 Circulars; size 3.0mm
Pattern: Toe-up, No Wrap short row heel, Ribbed Leg.

I knit them until I ran out of yarn, and they fit perfect, but I kind of hate the color. It looked awesome in a skein, but… I am disappointed with how they knit up. Don’t you hate it when yarn fools you like that??? I was dazzled by the Handpainted…

This Pair-A-Month challenge is good for my Hand-knitted sock stash, but I think it’s bad for my knitting Mojo. I spend the month thinking about the socks I have to knit, and I get depressed about it, to the point where I force myself to finish them, and I don’t ever knit anything during the month but the darn socks!! It’s sad, huh? I think next month I’m gonna knit some short footies that I can put off and knit quickly, and give myself a chance to knit something else. I don’t know what I’m gonna knit next… I’ll have to check my queue.
