I’m sick of blogging. I’ve been busy lately with school and stuff, and thinking about blogging bums me out. So, I’m going to stop. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate every comment i’ve ever gotten, and I’ve become friends with some awesome people out there in Blogland, but I’m a bad blogger and It’s over for me. But who knows, maybe I’ll come back to it, we’ll see.

I’ll still be an active reader of my Bloglines, and I’m always on Ravelry, so look me up to see what I’m up to, the Username is KaityBeth. And feel free to email me too, kvonraderATinboxDOTcom.

Thanks to ALL of you who have read my blog over the years, I appreciate you all.

Totes Totes Totes

All the girls at the college I go to use totes as book bags rather than backpacks, and I didn’t really have any cute totes that would work for school, so I made one!

I got the fabric and ribbon for the straps from Joann’s, and I just winged it, making it big enough to carry my text books. I really love it, the only problem is that I forgot to make a pocket. Doh!

The other day, I was surfing the web on my most favorite website, Etsy.com, and I found THE cutest tote bag ever! I just had to order it. I went to the mail box today to check if it had arrived and the sprinklers where going right next to them, I got SOAKED trying to pry the mail out of the box, it was ridiculous. Anyway, back to the tote:

best tote bag ever
Giraffes! Come on! They are adorable! And colorful! I bought it from Ching’s Totes. There are a ton of cute designs, it was so hard to pick one! The shipping was fast, too. I dunno which tote I’m gonna use for school, but at least I have some cute ones to choose from!

House-sitting

Listening To: Lola (live) by The Kinks

This past week has been a good one. I’m house-sitting for my Aunt and Uncle and cousins while they are on vacation, about 20 miles away from home. I do miss my family and dog, but I’m kind of loving the independence. Plus, most of my closest friends live in the city I am in now, so I’m closer to them, which is awesome. When I move out of the house, this city is where I want to be.

Les Parapluies de Cherbourg

Besides the proximity to my friends and my alone time, this house is full of good movies, like this one, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, or Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, if you prefer. It’s an amazing French movie, and all of the dialog is sung. It’s ridiculous and awesome.

Anyway, I’ve gotta go, I’ve got a bunch of friends coming over for Game Night in a few minutes. Later!

Watching: What Not To Wear

Yesterday, I made this:

bath poof

It’s cute, it was fun to make, but in the Shower this morning I was dissapointed. It’s really dense and hard, and doesn’t get much lather going. Plus, it stays wet forever, so I’m afraid of it getting mildew-ed. I like my dollar store poof much better.

Then I found this tutorial this morning, and decided I needed to try it.
felted soaps
Thanks to my Grandma, I have a lot of roving colors to choose from.

It was so fun to make, I had to try another:

felted soaps (4)
Fun Fun Fun. And cute! Too bad I ran out of bars of soap, I want to make more!

And, I think these are going to be better than a loofah, they get really sudsy.

Earthquake!

Haha, I was sitting in front of the TV about, oh, 15 minutes ago, and there was an earthquake! Crazy! Well, I do live in California, so it’s not really that big of a deal, it’s just that I never ever feel them when they happen. Apparently, it was like, a 5.6, not that big, but kind of big.

Anyway, that’s what’s exciting about my day.

FO: Girl Cowl

Watching: The Colbert Report

girlcowl

Yarn: Malabrigo Merino Worsted, 1 skein in “Pollen”
Needles: US Size 9 12″ Circular
Pattern: Man (or anyone) Cowl

365-4 (Girl Cowl)

I know I said that I was going to finish my July Socks before I got back to work on my Cowl, but I couldn’t help myself, it was just really fun to knit! I knit the pattern according to the pattern, but only did 40 rows in the Main part rather than the 60 that Michael knit.

Anyway, I love it, I really do. Malabrigo is pretty much the nicest yarn evah. Soft, light, fluffy, but really nice and warm. This is a winner, and makes me want to knit more cowls. I have one skein of Malabrigo left in the same color, so I think I’m going to need some matching mittens or something.

The Happiest Place on Earth

•July 24, 2008 • 3 Comments

Listening To: Elenor by Me First and the Gimme Gimmies

Yesterday we got back from a lovely 2 days spent in the Happiest place on earth, and it was soo fun. Not only the rides and the park, but spending time with my mom and sister. We had an awesome trip. I knit some, too! What am I knitting while waiting in line for the Monorail? My July socks. I’m finishing up a pair of socks that have been hanging out on my needles for more than a year, and I’m almost to the heel turn, so that’s good. I decided to put down my Girl Cowl until I finish these socks, because I only have until the 31st to have them finished, but after that, it’s back to the Malabrigo.

Tomorrow, My mom, my sister, one of my sister’s best friends, and I are off to spend 2 days at the Happiest Place on Earth, and I’m stoked, no joke. I’ve never stayed overnight there, only days at a time, and I’m pretty excited about staying at The Disneyland Hotel. We are blessed that it’s only a few hours away.

Oh, and I found something to knit! My friend Michael posted on the “Man Cowl” he made for himself, and I really love it. Luckily, he posted a pattern, so I’m making one for myself!
