I hope all of you have a great and fun 4th of July, and if you aren’t American, I hope you have a pleasant and fun weekend. I’m leaving tomorrow for our annual Family Reunion/ Vacation in Independence. I’m so excited.
Well, there is a large load of Laundry on the couch waiting to get packed, so I better go do that. I’ll have a post when I get home about all the fun that was had and all the knitting that got done.
I love this pattern. It was way too easy peasy. It’s easily memorized, and fun to knit, too! I really loved knitting this shawl, and I never really got to that point where I just wanted it to be done. I enjoyed every minute of it. The pattern is well written, it’s made to be an intro to lace kind of project, but for someone with more lace experience, it would be a piece of cake. I only used 1 and a half skeins, and I knit the pattern exactly how it was written. I could have made it bigger, but I didn’t. It’s a small shawl, so I’ll probably wear it more like a Scarf than around my shoulders like a shawl (If I wear it at all). I do love it, mostly because of the color. Purple is my favorite.
I haven’t blogged in forever, I’ve just gotten bored with it. It’s starting to feel more like a chore than something fun, I’m even possibly considering quitting all together, but for now, I’ll keep going. I mean, it’s still fun to share what I’m knitting with all of you, and I love my commenters, but sometimes I just don’t feel up to it.
Anyway, I’m posting today, so that’s something I don’t normally do! I’m also trying to do new things, branch out from my norm, because I’ve been getting bored with myself. I’m also trying to work on myself to become a better person. More outgoing, more organized, nicer, and just happier, and It’s working, because I feel better than I have been feeling the past few months, yay for me!
That up there? That’s a shawl, and If you know me, I’m not a shawl kind of person, but like I said, I’m branching out!
I know I know, it’s been forever since I posted! Sorry about that guys!
Anyway, I’ve been distracted lately. I finished up another semester, so I’m officially on Summer Vacation! Now I just need to find a job for this summer…
I’ve also been busy with a Series of books I discovered that I was reading non-stop these past few days, that sucked up all my knitting time too. But, I have a Finished Project to show you anyway!
These would be my May socks, for the Pair-A-Month Challenge.
Yarn: Marisol Hacho, 2 skeins in “Coral Reef”
Needles: 2 Circulars; size 3.0mm
Pattern: Toe-up, No Wrap short row heel, Ribbed Leg.
I knit them until I ran out of yarn, and they fit perfect, but I kind of hate the color. It looked awesome in a skein, but… I am disappointed with how they knit up. Don’t you hate it when yarn fools you like that??? I was dazzled by the Handpainted…
This Pair-A-Month challenge is good for my Hand-knitted sock stash, but I think it’s bad for my knitting Mojo. I spend the month thinking about the socks I have to knit, and I get depressed about it, to the point where I force myself to finish them, and I don’t ever knit anything during the month but the darn socks!! It’s sad, huh? I think next month I’m gonna knit some short footies that I can put off and knit quickly, and give myself a chance to knit something else. I don’t know what I’m gonna knit next… I’ll have to check my queue.
Michael has been posting music videos lately on his blog, and I have to share this one. The song is called “All I Want Is You” by Barry Louis Polisar, and if you haven’t seen Juno, it’s playing over the opening credits. It’s painfully cute and charming, I totally want someone to sing this to me. Anyway, enjoy.
If I was a flower growing wild and free
All I’d want is you to be my sweet honey bee.
And if I was a tree growing tall and greeen
All I’d want is you to shade me and be my leaves
If I was a flower growing wild and free
All I’d want is you to be my sweet honey bee.
And if I was a tree growing tall and greeen
All I’d want is you to shade me and be my leaves
All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.
If you were a river in the mountains tall,
The rumble of your water would be my call.
If you were the winter, I know I’d be the snow
Just as long as you were with me, let the cold winds blow
All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.
If you were a wink, I’d be a nod
If you were a seed, well I’d be a pod.
If you were the floor, I’d wanna be the rug
And if you were a kiss, I know I’d be a hug
All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.
If you were the wood, I’d be the fire.
If you were the love, I’d be the desire.
If you were a castle, I’d be your moat,
And if you were an ocean, I’d learn to float.
All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.
Yep, I’ve been busy lately. I have one week left of school until summer vacation, and I can not wait. I have 3 finals next week, and they shouldn’t be too bad, I just have to get my study on.
I bought me some new sock yarn last week, Marisol Yarn Hacho. This stuff is pretty sweet. It says handwash only, soooo there’s a negative, but other than that, It’s niiiiice. I started a pair of socks with it, and I’m knitting them (drum roll please…) two-at-a-time on 2 circulars! Ahhh! We’ll see how that goes. I might get frustrated and give up. Who knows?
Yarn: Rio De La Plata Artista Sock, Color SL 17
Needles: US Size 2 DPNs
Pattern: Top Down, 60 stitches, 1×1 Ribbing at top, 3×1 ribbing on leg and instep, Heel Flap, Wedge Toe.
This yarn looked better in a skein than it does knit up, which is usually the case, but I still love the finished socks. The yarn is soft, I’m skeptical about how well they will stand up to wear, but oh well.
So, that means I finished this pair before the end of April, for my Pair-A-Month Challenge, which is going strong on Ravelry. What kind of socks will May bring? Who knows. I’m off to figure that out.
